Janesville Police Department participates in cutting edge training

The Janesville Police Department is one of five in the nation to train its entire force in the cutting edge procedural justice method of policing.
One of the trainers, retired Lone Tree, Colorado Police Chief Jeff Streeter, says the training is built on impartiality, fairness, transparency and allowing citizens to have a voice during police interactions.
JPD Chief David Moore says the course taught on Wednesday and Thursday, which he described as a refresher for his officers, is part of the future of law enforcement.
Another trainer, Denver Police Department Crisis Services Director Scott Snow, says it won’t be difficult for officers to apply what they learn if they frequently use the methods talked about in the training.
The Janesville Foundation helped fund the training.
