The Wisconsin Department of Justice says police are canvassing the state line for local thefts after a search warrant in Janesville turned up a stolen pickup truck and nearly a dozen stolen license plates.
The DOJ says in a statewide alert that police arrested people identified Leah Hamm and Justin Marshall on multiple, undisclosed charges after Janesville police searched a home at 2724 Mount Zion Avenue on Friday night.
The DOJ says police suspect Hamm and Marshall in a string of retail thefts and gas drive-offs. In the search, cops recovered 10 stolen license plates from Wisconsin, Illinois, Arkansas, Alabama and South Carolina, along with a stolen, white 2023 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck police think Marshall and Hamm had been driving around.
Janesville police declined to release more info, saying the case remains under investigation.
