Rock County’s Sheriff might run for re-election. Following some public speculation this might be his last term, Sheriff Robert Spoden posted a Facebook message this week saying he wants to quell rumors and will probably run again. Spoden does tell the Gazette a lot could happen between now and 2018 that might change his mind. He acknowledges two years is a long time, but he posted the notice so supporters won’t think of abandoning him in favor of any other candidate. Sheriff since 2007, Spoden defeated challenger Gary Groelle in the Democratic Primary in August of 2014. Groelle, who’s a captain in the sheriff’s office said Thursday he has no plans to retire anytime soon, and might consider running again.
